This is another SSSS picture. For those who don't know the story (a fanfiction of Fullmetal Alchemist that I am writing), you can find it here: [link] .
This picture was hand-drawn, scanned, and coloured with Pixia.
The parts here that took me the longest to draw were the hands and the expressions. It took so long to get Roy to look anything like Roy, and I still don't think he quite looks right. I can never draw him T_T Funnily enough, I think it's Riza who looks least like herself. Here, she looks like a paper-white, European version of Mulan @_@
The part I'm most proud of is Bianca :3 I think she's the one with the most realistic look on her face. I just like how she's so intrigued with Riza's hair
I considered having a real background, but . . . it took me a few weeks to colour this, because I'm not easily motivated, so I thought I could do without
Please full-view. I spent so much time zoomed in for colouring that it doesn't look the right size this way - I can't see their expressions properly.
Ah, cool! A nice, cozy family ^_^ This is probably going to sound weird, but I love the shadow of Roy's arm And you're right; Roy and Riza, especially, look rather...oriental. I can just hear Roy singing, "Tranquil as a forest, but a fire within...."

I think it's great. It's a different style which is always fun.
You should try coloring in Open Canvas or Gimp. Gimp is difficult at first but you can make good usage of layers.

It's not how good a piece is that determines whether it's good or not; it's the heart and passion that one puts into it. I would rather see art that's not so good but full of heart than a piece that is amazing but was considered a burden for the creator.
Ohh, this is so interesting to look at, your drawing style is entruiging. I'm not sure why, but I think it may be the expressions, and the fact that they look a particular race (although i dont know which race), that makes them seem quite human, that is entruiging. So putting all that time into the expressions payed off! Same with hands. Gosh, I am SO bad at hands, and commend anyone who can draw them nicely.
Y'know, that shadow helped me figure out a few things - like the way that the closer a shadow is to the object making the shadow, the darker the shadow witll be. You can't see it this far out, but I have a few different shades of "shadow" along the arm-shadow on his leg, because it'd be darker right up near the point of contact :3
Haha I think Riza's fine not being a man (I should have just made this a Mulan fanart, shouldn't I? XD)

I've just started using Pixia in the past year or so, but it has layering and all that sort of thing :3 A fair bump up from my last program - MS Paint The main problem here has just been my learning where shadows fall, I think

The race is part of the problem, I think XD The woman is supposed to be a bit more European looking, but I'm not used to drawing people anything but straight on or side on, so I didn't know how to make her eyes look caucasian XD At least the others worked out, even if she didn't

Shadows kill me! I think my art would be so much better if I could learn that as well. I just can't get it. Wish there was some tutorial on learning that.
I have pixia on my computer but I could never get the hang of it.

They look a bit Asian! And you're right. Riza does look a lot like Mulan! I really like it. The colors are really good and I like the shadows. I know it's hard to do them.. Great work! I like it.

Yes @_@ I have times when I stare in the mirror and try to understand what is causing what shadow. The problem with that is that the mirror itself is a source of light, so I have at least two directions to think about, and I'm having enough issues figuring out how one source of light will affect lighting XD
I'm no good at drawing with Pixia (no good at drawing with a mouse at all), but I find it useful for colouring. I was really annoyed at it and didn't use it for ages at first, but I have friends who use it, so once I figured out how to use the layers properly (I still only know the very basics) I was able to try a bit. I know I'd take just as long to learn how to use anything else, and I don't use it that often in the first place, so it's juse easiest for me to keep on with Pixia :3
